When did they move off of PBS to Speed? It's great to see my old buddy, Pat Goss.

They did review of a new Honda concept car that runs on a hydrogen fuel cell. If I could make hydrogen cheap at home I might be interested when this goes into full production.

I missed the show this morning , but think Hydrogen wont be the next fuel alternative , electric will .

I may be wrong , just depends on which direction our manufactures can make the most money on us ;\)

We should be using small diesel motors like the rest of the world , but GM really set the US back 40 yeas with their stupidity of trying to convert a gas motor to a diesel 25 years ago , left people with a bad taste in their mouth on diesels \:\(

Look here for a cool assed diesel \:\)

That's one heck of an Opel.

The thing that I like is the refit deal for the Prius that adds a plug in charger that is supposed to raise the MPG from 50 to 100. I'd like to get a used Prius as a third car in a few years when our teenagers start driving. Either that or a newish Jeep Wrangler. They just moved the front turn signals on those off the fender back by the grill like the old school CJ's.

I think a something like a diesel Prius like thing that plugs in at night to charge would be the way to go until 100% electrics become viable. Then you could fill it with old french fry grease and make your neighborhood hungry as you drive through.

Bio-Diesel I think is a cool way to go , but already is getting bad press . Saying it has worse emissions then regular diesel , I think the auto manufactures are already trying to kill bio because they didnt think it would fly , but the farmers and others are making money now selling off their corn , making a profit !

The big 3 have killed off many great ideas being in the pockets of the oil lobbyists /oil companies !!!!
We want big gas guzzling vehicles .

Bio needs some tweaking. It gells up way too easy in single digit temps. The open grain markets were ok for everyone but the farmer when everything was cheap. But the feed grain issue is there now. I have an aunt and uncle with a small dairy herd that is only breaking even.

Ethanol isn't recommended for two cycle engines. I had to have my chain saw worked on and found out that I was supposed to be running straight gas in it.

I agree about the big 3. Now they have some reasons to be running scared with high fuel prices and the success that Toyota is realizing. I think even Kia has a 100,000 mile warranty.

I think that before the big electric cars you will see something similar to that of a Train. Diesel Generator with electric motors. This way you can cut the emissions but have the power of a gas.

Some of the guys that I know are building E85 engines. This way they can run larger compression motors but the down side is that they will only be able to use E85. I think Holley now makes a carb set up for that.

We need to turn to alternative fuels and other resources for sure, here we buy fuel from the people that want to kill us , not smart in my eyes .
I remember when I was in grade school ( 30+ years ago ) we would be using Solar , and other types of fuel by the year 2000, but guess what , has'nt happened yet . When our Presidents all have big interests in oil and own oil companies & all their cronies are oil conglomerates , you think they will ever jump the wagon ?
Hell no .

Plus our Military just signed a multi- billion dollar contract with the french to build our air re-fueling tankers , instead of using Boeing right here in Kansas and other states that would benifit with jobs ! I say our government is selling us out \:\(

I read about that in the news. The Airbus people are going to build a new factory in Alabama.

I didn't know that Northrop Grumman is partnering with Airbus.

Big stink going on here about the choice .
Our Governor Kathleen Sebelius is looking into it and taking it to the pentagon and higher , as Kansas is in a real slump and needs a boost in the economy , this would of helped alot .

Motorweek today showed the new corvette convertible. It has a 6.3 or 6.7 liter bumped up from just a 6 liter. Hot little car in blue. smile

Never been a fan of corvettes ( all you have to do is work on one and you will know why wink )
But I would take a 67 or a 63 split window wink wink wink

Now I know it may not be an American car , but give me a Nissan Skyline GT-R smile

GM has really lost it in the design department IMO , as everything is butt ugly or looks like an Angry Kitchen Appliance !

I changed the oil in both of our Fords the other week. I was impressed with the layout. I could get to the filters and all of the other stuff easy. My 1980 Chevette and '87 Escort EXP weren't as easy to work on.
